Privacy Policy

This policy explains how FnOTax India collects, uses, and protects personal data when you visit fnotax.com. Written to comply with the Digital Personal Data Protection Act 2023 (DPDP Act) of India.

1. Who is the data fiduciary

Data Control

FnOTax India is the data fiduciary for personal data processed through this site. For data grievances, contact privacy@fnotax.com.

2. What we collect

Data Ingestion
  • Server logs: IP address, user agent, request path, timestamp — retained for security and abuse-prevention for 30 days.
  • Analytics events: Page-view and basic interaction events (no personal identifiers). We use privacy-preserving analytics that do not set cookies for individual tracking.
  • Calculator inputs: If you use our tools (turnover, audit, loss set-off, ITR-3 vs ITR-4), inputs are processed in your browser. We do not transmit calculator inputs to our servers unless you explicitly submit them with an enquiry.
  • Voluntary email contact: If you write to us, your email address and message body are stored only as long as needed to respond.

3. What we do not collect

Clear Boundaries
  • We do not collect your PAN, Aadhaar, or income-tax credentials.
  • We do not collect your broker account details or trading data unless you voluntarily share them in a support enquiry.
  • We do not buy or rent personal data from third parties.

4. Why we process the data we collect

Purpose
  • To operate, secure and improve the website (legitimate use under DPDP Act).
  • To respond to enquiries you initiate (consent-based processing under DPDP Act).
  • To comply with applicable law, including responding to lawful requests by public authorities.

5. Third-party processors

Processors

We use a small number of third-party processors. Each is bound by data-processing terms and processes only the data needed to deliver the service:

  • Hosting and content delivery — to serve the website.
  • Privacy-preserving analytics — to understand aggregate usage without individual tracking.
  • Email — to receive and reply to messages sent to our contact addresses.

A current list of processors is available on request from privacy@fnotax.com.

6. Your rights under the DPDP Act

Rights
  • Access: You may request a copy of personal data we hold about you.
  • Correction: You may request correction of inaccurate personal data.
  • Erasure: You may request deletion of your personal data where it is no longer needed for the purpose collected.
  • Withdrawal of consent: Where processing is based on consent, you may withdraw that consent at any time.
  • Grievance redressal: Unresolved grievances may be escalated to the Data Protection Board of India under Section 27 of the DPDP Act.

To exercise any of these rights, write to privacy@fnotax.com. We will respond within 30 calendar days.

7. Cookies

Cookies

We do not set advertising or tracking cookies. We may set essential, non-tracking cookies strictly necessary for the site to function (for example, remembering a viewport preference).

8. Data retention

Retention
  • Server logs — 30 days.
  • Aggregate analytics — retained indefinitely in anonymised form.
  • Email correspondence — retained only as long as needed to respond, then deleted on request or within 12 months of the last correspondence, whichever is sooner.

9. Children

Age Restriction

Our content is intended for adults filing their own (or assisting with) income-tax returns. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 18. Where consent is required from a child or a person with a disability under the DPDP Act, processing will only occur with verifiable consent of the lawful guardian.

10. Changes to this policy

Updates

We may update this policy. Material changes will be reflected in the Last updated date at the top of this page. Where required by law, we will notify users of material changes through the website.
