ProStocks F&O tax filing.

ProStocks F&O traders should treat the broker report as evidence, not as the tax rule itself. ProStocks is a low-cost broker where account-plan charges and statutory charges can be more visible than per-order brokerage. The correct filing workflow is to export the broker P&L, ledger, and contract notes, then reconcile the numbers to ITR-3, ICAI turnover, and s.44AB audit rules.

How to download your ProStocks F&O Tax P&L

ProStocks Web / Backoffice

ProStocks's tax report is generated through ProStocks Web / Backoffice. Follow the steps below; this is the canonical source for your ITR-3 filing.

  1. Log in to ProStocks Web / Backoffice
  2. Open Reports, Backoffice, Statements, Account, Profile, or Downloads
  3. Choose Profit & Loss, Tax P&L, Tradebook, Ledger, or Contract Notes for the relevant financial year
  4. Filter for F&O / Equity Derivatives; separately export currency or commodity derivatives if traded
  5. Download PDF or Excel files and keep the original broker exports as evidence
  6. If ProStocks does not expose a single tax-ready report, combine P&L, tradebook, ledger, and contract notes instead of estimating from dashboard screenshots

Schedule mapping

Every line in your ProStocks Tax P&L corresponds to a specific ITR-3 schedule or working. Use this table when you (or your CA) transcribe numbers from the broker report into the return.

ProStocks report lineITR-3 destinationNotes
F&O Realised P&L ITR-3 Schedule BP Report as non-speculative business income or loss. Do not move F&O to capital gains merely because shares and derivatives appear in the same broker login.
F&O Turnover ITR-3 audit-applicability check under s.44AB Broker turnover is a starting point. Reconcile it against ICAI GN 2025, especially option-sale premium treatment.
Brokerage and statutory charges ITR-3 Schedule BP (deductible expenses) For ProStocks, subscription or plan fees should be tracked separately from trade-level charges. Brokerage, STT/CTT, exchange charges, SEBI fees, stamp duty, and GST are expenses, not reductions from turnover.

Broker-specific filing notes

ProStocks workflow

Why ProStocks needs a separate evidence trail

ProStocks has its own report layout, login flow, ledger labels, and charge presentation. The tax law is broker-neutral, but the evidence trail is broker-specific. Keep a folder for ProStocks with the FY Tax P&L or P&L statement, full ledger, contract notes, tradebook, and any support tickets or emailed statements used to prepare the return. This lets every ITR-3 number be traced back to a source document.

Reconciling ProStocks P&L with ITR-3

Start with realised F&O P&L, not live portfolio P&L. Then add deductible charges from the ledger and verify whether the broker report already presents net P&L after charges or gross P&L before charges. If the report mixes delivery equity, intraday equity, currency, commodity, or mutual-fund activity with F&O, split them before filing. F&O belongs in Schedule BP; delivery equity usually belongs in capital-gains schedules unless your books treat it as stock-in-trade.

Turnover bridge for ProStocks

The ProStocks turnover field should not be accepted blindly for AY 2026-27. Build a bridge with four columns: broker-reported F&O turnover, realised favourable/unfavourable differences, option-sale premium received, and GN 2025 adjustment if premium is not already netted. Keep this bridge even when audit is not required; it is the working paper that explains why you did or did not cross the s.44AB threshold.

Expense schedule for ProStocks

For ProStocks, subscription or plan fees should be tracked separately from trade-level charges. Use the ledger to list brokerage, STT/CTT, exchange charges, SEBI charges, stamp duty, GST, DP/account charges, data costs, software fees, advisory costs, and interest where directly connected to F&O trading. Do not include personal costs or investment-only delivery charges unless there is a clear business nexus. Expenses reduce business profit; they do not reduce turnover.

When ProStocks reports are incomplete

If the broker does not provide a single tax-ready statement, do not estimate from memory or screenshots. Use the best available official exports: tradebook for trade-level result, ledger for charges and cash movements, contract notes for statutory levies, and bank statements only for reconciliation. If a CA prepares or audits the return, give all four files together instead of only the summary P&L.

Turnover method — what ProStocks uses

Not publicly stated by broker

ProStocks does not publish a crawlable public page that conclusively confirms a GN 2025-compliant F&O turnover method. Treat the broker turnover field as provisional until you verify how options premium is handled in the downloaded report.

Editorial note

For AY 2026-27 onward, ICAI GN 2025 includes option-sale premium where it is not already netted into trade-level P&L. If the broker report follows older absolute-P&L logic, manually bridge the difference before deciding audit applicability.

See the F&O turnover hub for the full GN 2025 methodology, and use our turnover calculator to cross-check the number in your ProStocks report.

ProStocks-specific gotchas

Real issues

Official broker report first, dashboard screenshot last

ProStocks dashboards can show live, marked-to-market, or simplified values. ITR-3 should use downloaded FY reports, ledger, contract notes, and tradebook evidence.

One ITR, not one return per broker

If ProStocks is one of multiple brokers, aggregate all broker P&L, turnover, and charges in one ITR-3. Audit is tested on total business turnover, not per broker.

Broker charge labels can differ

ProStocks users should reconcile plan charges, brokerage, and statutory levies from the ledger before finalising Schedule BP expenses.

Audit applicability under s.44AB

Same rule, every broker

The s.44AB audit test does not vary by broker. It depends on your aggregate F&O business turnover (across all brokers), the 5% cash-receipts/payments rule, and your s.44AD history. A loss alone is not the audit trigger.

Run the audit applicability checker or read the F&O tax audit hub for the full decision tree, including the s.44AD(4) 5-year lock-in trap.

Frequently asked questions

Which ITR form for ProStocks F&O trading?
ITR-3 is the default full-reporting form because exchange-traded F&O is business income. ITR-4 is only for genuinely eligible presumptive cases and should not be used casually.
Can I deduct ProStocks brokerage and charges?
Yes, trading-related brokerage and statutory charges are generally deductible business expenses for F&O. Keep broker ledger and contract notes as support.
Does ProStocks turnover alone decide tax audit?
No. Add turnover across all brokers and derivative segments, then apply s.44AB, cash-condition rules, and any 44AD history.
